Precious Green Gunter
Precious holds a B.S. in Human Resource Management from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from North Carolina Central University School of Law where she served as a Senior Editor of the Law Review. While attending law school, she participated in the Criminal Prosecution Clinic and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinic where she obtained her mediation certification and mediated domestic violence, child support, and criminal misdemeanor cases in District Court. Precious was
admitted to practice law in the state of North Carolina in 2010. After obtaining her law license, she was an Adjunct Ethics Instructor for
Virginia College and worked as a Staff Attorney for Legal Aid of North Carolina for almost five years. During that time, she gained a lot of litigation experience in several areas of law, primarily, domestic violence, sexual assault, and employment. Additionally, she served on several boards, including the Care Domestic Violence Shelter, and assisted with developing sexual assault and domestic violence trainings for victims, community organizations, and employees of the police department.
In her current role as Director of Equity, Ethics, & Compliance & Title IX Coordinator, she is the designated Chief Compliance Officer for the University overseeing the University’s Compliance and Ethics Program. She reports functionally to the Audit and Compliance Committee through its Chair, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, and administratively to the President requiring her attendance at all Board of Trustee meetings. She is also in charge of coordinating the University’s efforts to adhere to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Additionally, she chairs both the University’s Title IX and Diversity and Inclusion Committees and assists with programming and trainings to promote education and awareness throughout the university community.
Precious is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional through the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics and an Adjunct Legal and Ethics Instructor for FGCU’s Lutgert College of Business.
