Cinaiya Stubbs is the executive director of Chicago Youth Programs, a 36-year-old nonprofit serving youth and families in some of Chicago’s most underserved communities. She is committed to helping youth and families build capacity through access. Growing up in Chicago, a city that is systemically and geographically segregated has given her a unique perspective that she uses to inform her work. Cinaiya has worked in the nonprofit sector since 2003 when she began designing and implementing before and after school programs at a school in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood. The past 17 years have provided a wealth of experience that includes staff management, organizational culture building, strategic planning, and board and community relations. Cinaiya believes that each child, no matter their zip code, deserves the right to live outside of poverty and trusts that serving the whole child is the surest route to get them there.
